This past week, I’ve been on vacation. When we got home, there was a cat on our doorstep. She had a collar on, so I assumed she belonged to someone in the building (or at least in the same apartment complex). She seemed hungry, so we put out some food and water for her. The next day, the food was gone. That night, the cat was back, so we took her in. I posted an ad on Craigslist to see if anyone was looking for her, but didn’t get any responses. I even went through the “LOST” posts to see if any matched her description; nada. So, I took to Facebook and asked my friends for some advice. Here’s what you should do when you find a lost pet:
-Post a description of the animal on Craigslist, but not a photo. If someone claims that the pet is theirs, ask them for some positive ID, such as a picture of the animal, specific markings on their coat, or the color of the collar.
-Post on local lost/found Facebook groups.
-Put up signs around the area where the animal was found
-Take the animal to a vet to see if it has been microchipped
-Leave descriptions of the animal at your local vets and shelters, along with your contact information.
-If no one claims them, try to find a good home for them yourself, or take it to a no-kill shelter.

Everyone knows that cats are carnivores- they only eat meat, and even their dry food needs to be meat-based. However, dogs are omnivores, like humans. They will eat meat, veggies, fruits, some dairy, and grains- and it’s good for them! (As long as you know what foods are safe). For a list of doggie-safe veggies and fruits, read this post by
My cat is about fifteen years old, and has been trained to use the litter box since she was only a few weeks old. We’ve never had problems before, besides one or two accidents. However, lots of things have changed for her recently.
These days, you can’t even turn around without hearing about the miraculous untold uses of every day household products. Put coconut oil in your hair! On your teeth! Rub it into your skin! It’ll prevent every disease known to man! While I’m usually wary of extravagant claims, I won’t say no to some tips that will make my life easier. Today, we’re talking about a less glamorous item- vinegar, and how it can help your pets. For some awesome tips, check out this post by
Most items are generally less expensive if you make them yourself. That’s why posts about DIY household cleaners, beauty products, and grocery staples are so popular. Buying a few cheap ingredients in bulk is much cheaper than buying an expensive small bottle of shampoo, or whatever you’re making. The same goes for pet food and treats. A box of doggie treats can go for $5-$20, depending on brand and size. To me, that’s just outrageous! Especially when a dog will consider most items that are already in your pantry a “treat” (they really love peanut butter!) That’s why I love this post by
