Is there anything better than a basket of ginger kitties? No.
Banish Doggie Breath!
I wrote last week about how to cheaply eliminate doggie odor from your home. However, dogs don’t just get stinky from running in the rain and rolling around in mud. Anyone who has ever seen a dog can tell you all about the dreaded “doggie breath”. Sure, you can brush your dog’s teeth (but who actually does that?), but most of us opt for the dental treats that you can get. When your dog chews on them, they clean their teeth and freshen their breath. However, they can be pretty expensive. That’s why I love this post by Lynette Walczak at Dogs-The Funtimes Guide. Here are several DIY dog breath treat recipes:
-No-Bake DIY Dog Breath Mints
made of only crushed crackers, mint leaves, and water
–Homemade Greenies Dog Breath Fresheners
contains chickpeas, flour, flaxseed, mint leaves, parsley, and soup stock

Goodbye, Stinky Dogs!
Summer is almost upon us, which means that it’s time to give your dogs some grooming. Hair needs to be trimmed so they don’t overheat, paws need to be protected, and baths need to be given regularly- though that’s more for the owner’s benefit. Dogs are stinky. It’s a fact of life. Even if they are bathed and groomed regularly, they’ll start stinking again soon. So, what’s the best way to avoid having a stinky, dog-smelly house (without spending tons of money and time on groomers and baths)? Check out this post by Beth at Unskinny Boppy for how to INSTANTLY banish the odor:
-Add about 10 drops of an essential oil you like to an 8 ox bottle of water.
-Attach a spray nozzle on top
-Shake the mixture vigorously
-Spritz your dog’s coat, your furniture, carpets, their beds, etc. with the mixture and the odor is instantly gone!
Be sure to read her entire post for essential oil safety with pets. Use less drops with smaller dogs, and do your research before using any essential oils on cats (tea tree oil is toxic to them!)
Friday Fun Video: Adorable Corgi Compilation!
Just because I’m obsessed with them right now : )
Corgis Are Cool- Here’s Why
They have fluffy butts, pointy ears, big smiles, and the Internet (and the Queen of England) loves them! What are they? Corgis- one of the cutest dog breeds ever! I had never seen one in real life before, until we started going to my friend’s house to watch Game of Thrones every Sunday. His roommate has a Corgi, and it’s one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever met. He loves to meet new people, and will excitedly watch the show with us. In case you aren’t convinced, check out these 10 cool facts about corgis by Paul Ciampanelli at Mom.me:
-There are two breeds: Welsh Corgis, and Welsh Cardigan Corgis
-The Corgi breed is around 1,000 years old
-”Corgi” is the Welsh word for “Dwarf Dog”
-They are excellent herding dogs
-They are the 11th smartest dog breed
Dog Poisons In Your Home
Most people know not to give their dogs chocolate, however, there are plenty more little-known dog poisons in your pantry and household. Dogs are like kids- if you have something you don’t want them to get into, they WILL find it and they will eat it. Keep your pooch safe by keeping them away from all of these toxins by the Pups Place Blog:
-Human medication- especially antidepressants, and anything containing acetaminophen
-Human foods- chocolate, gum, candy, grapes, raisins, onions, and garlic
-Insecticides
-Rodenticides
-Human vitamins and supplements

Friday Fun Video: Moose Wants To Jump
I can honestly say I’ve never seen a moose in real life, but after watching this it made me realize how HUGE they are. It actually made me kinda nervous!
Coolest Interactive Dog Toys
Dogs are basically like little kids. They love unconditionally, can be remarkably intelligent, and require almost-constant stimulation to keep from getting bored. We love our dogs, but it can be hard for busy owners to give them our constant undivided attention, especially if we have actual children to also take care of. That’s why it’s important to give our dogs company (by getting another dog), and/or toys to keep them entertained when we can’t. For some awesome toys that your dog can actually interact with, check out this post by Liz at Woof Woof Mama:
KONG Wobbler Treat and Food Dispenser Dog Toy– your dog has to play and “wobble” the treats out
Interactive Green Feeder for Dogs– your dog has to fish out food/treats from rubber blades of “grass”- it helps to slow down super fast eaters
Aikiou Interactive Pet Feeders A puzzle toy with treat compartments
KONG Classic Stuffable Dog Toy– stuff it with peanut butter, bananas, yogurt- then let your dog chew to his hearts’ content!
