Senate Passes Economic Stimulus Bill

A Senate version of the economic stimulus bill has been passed. This version has some differences to the House version, and those will have to be reconciled. However, the Senate version managed to cost only a little more than the House version, which is pretty good, since at one point the Senate had added added more than $100 billion to the cost of the economic stimulus bill.

It is understood that at some point the economic stimulus bill, which costs in excess of $800 billion, will be passed. It's just a matter of what will be included in the bill. And who ends up voting for it. So far, only three Republicans (that's including both legislative bodies) have voted for a version of the economic stimulus bill. However much the Democrats and — especially — president Barack Obama would like more bipartisan support, the bottom line is that the Dems have enough numbers to pass the bill.
