Hue: Coloring Book Contest

by Kathy Helbig 1 Comment

Do you want to try something fun? Do you secretly wish you could color with your 3 year old but shy away from Barney or Mickey? Well, here is something just for us adults that will bring out the creativity in  you! Rachel, over at Hue, is having an adult coloring contest……..
All_white_room_beachstudioscouk_2

"If you use Photoshop, or other photo-editing program, try your hand at
coloring one of these rooms. If you’re not particularly computer-savvy,
feel free to color in the more traditional format, with crayons, pens,
etc. You can print out the image, color to your hearts delight, then
scan it back into your computer and email it to me at
rachel.perls[at]gmail[dot]com. Use your imagination- the sky is the
limit. No need to add elements, just add color to the pieces in the
photo of your choice."

Rachel is going to post the beautiful submissions that she receives and there just might be a little something for the best submission. Cool!

Personally, I love the color white and would love to live in a room that is totally white. Here’s what Rachel has to say about white:

"Facts in white: contrary to popular opinion, decorating your space in
all white is anything but soothing and neutral. The human eye sees pure
white as a brilliant color, and the highly reflective quality of white
can cause glare, in turn causing eye strain and headaches. Not too
soothing, right? White jumps out at you just as any other bright color
does. It can be perceived as cold, sterile and stark. So, that sparked
my idea about the coloring book. These images are just screaming to be
colored!"

For all the pictures you can color and more details about Photoshop, check out Rachel’s post on her "Coloring Book Contest" and may the best colorer win!

National Work at Home Mom Week

by David Allen 2 Comments

In celebration of all those moms who have chosen to stay at home and not only bring up a family, but harder still either work or run a small business from home. To some this may at first appear to be a blissful life, yet there are many pitfalls that occur when trying to keep a home, family and work all in the same place.
Wahmom

This is why the National Work at Home Mom Week run by the work at home information site “Work at home success” is so special for these women this is a way of showing work at home moms and moms who would really like to work at home, the many ways of finding work, what types of work is available on line and probably most important of all, what the pitfalls are, it is much easier to sucked into schemes that promise a lot but end up delivering nothing but problems and headaches.Wahmom1

The National Work at Home Mom Week will be held on May 6th to 13th and will be offering moms the chance to access the information provided on the work at home success website, which include a work book, tools to help find a job, start a business, plus access to a live seminar where moms are able to ask the site founder “Pajama Mom” Leslie Truex anything that you feel will help you develop the position of your choice, be it working from home or running a business.

Working from home can a fantastic way of life, but mixing work, family and home life together takes a special kind of person and some serious organizing, maybe that is why so many women make a success of it.

What’s Holding You Back?

by Kathy Helbig Leave a Comment

Mmm_2006_link_2
Count Me In is a not for profit organization that provides insight and resources for women with big dreams. The problem that most women face, however, when aspiring toward those dreams is exactly how to take it to the next level. One of the programs being offered at the Office Depot Success Strategies Event in Chicago is called Make Mine A Million and it is inspiring women from all over to overcome their challenges, create the infrastructure, and secure the funding needed to take their businesses to an even more successful level.

Evidently, two of the biggest factors that tend to hold women back from realizing their dreams is:
-trying to do it all yourself
-not borrowing any money

The best thing to do in determining whether you are ready to take your business to the next level is ask yourself a few questions. What is success really about for you? Is it about the paycheck? Is it about being your personal best? Is it about the contribution you make? Or is it simply an attempt to gain some personal identity? Whatever the case may be, it is necessary to understand what your goals and desires are when it comes to your business and once you have tapped in on where you are coming from you can then get on the right path to where you want to go.

People Are The Key To Success

by Kathy Helbig Leave a Comment

Kristie_2
Kristie T, from Webmomz, is at the Office Depot Success Strategies For Women and she has learned some really great things for all women that are working to create their own successful business. The event is called "Branding Yourself For Unstoppable Success" and Kristie had the opportunity to listen to Cynthia Kersey, the best selling author of "Unstoppable Women: Achieve Any Breakthrough Goal in 30 Days". Kristie notes, in her blog, a few of the biggest lessons she’s learned in business:

A) Nice girls do win! The relationships you establish with people
are key. Your success is directly related to the strength of your
relationships. There is power in NICE.

b) Really know your clients

c) Have a well executed plan and strategy

d) Networking.  Know people.  Give referrals, do favors.  Connect with as many of people as possible.

People is the key and being genuine with those people you come in contact with is an even bigger key to success. If you’re just investing your time with people simply for the "business" people will see right through you but if you are truly taking the time to invest in people for the betterment of them and yourself, your community will build in no time!
