Cats and hats don’t mix, but it was adorable for the .5 seconds that they left them on.

Best Apps For Dog Parents
Phones and apps have been making our lives easier for the past decade or so, and can APPly to almost every area of life. I have apps that save me money, give me directions, let me message friends, write stories, play music, and give me book recommendations. So, it makes sense for there to be apps out there for pet owners! I’ve just never thought of looking for them before, at least not until I found this article by Kate Puhala at BritCo. Here are the “must have” apps for dog and cat parents everywhere:
Puppy Coach 101 ($2.99 on iPhone): Perfect for training your new pup
MapMyDogwalk (Free for iPhone and Android) Encourages you and your dog to get moving!
DoggyDatez (Free for iPhone and Android) Lets you socialize with other dog walkers while you’re out!
BringFido (Free for iPhone): Searches for pet friendly hotels
How To Make An Outdoor Potty Area
When I first saw this post by SL at Welcome Pup, I thought it was pretty funny. It basically just looks like a giant outdoor litterbox for dogs. But, the more I thought about it, I realized how genius it actually is. It’s fairly easy to build, and it keeps dogs from leaving presents all over your yard, protecting both your grass and the bottoms of your new shoes. Check out the full post here for a complete photo tutorial! You’ll need:
- 2 inch by 6 inch boards cut to size
- fiberglass screen (found at hardware store) cut to size for two layers of stone
- sand pebbles* (* or small river rocks if you can’t find them)
- pea gravel
- shovel
Friday Fun Video: Rockstar Rescue Puppy
Three types of videos that ALWAYS make me cry: 1. Deaf people getting ear implants and hearing the voices of their loved ones for the first time. 2. Soldiers surprising their kids by coming home early, and 3. Before and after videos of rescue animals. I love seeing how drastically a lot of love can affect an animal so physically. I know, I’m a big crybaby :’)

What To Never Give Your Chickens
Feeding chickens is pretty easy. You just give them chicken feed, and occasionally veggies and other table scraps. They also will eat grass, seeds, and bugs from your yard. However, there are some things that are toxic or otherwise dangerous for chickens that you should never feed them. For a complete list, check out this post by Jill Winger at The Prairie Homestead blog:
-Avocados (mainly the pit and peel)
-Chocolate or candy, other junk food
-Green potato skins
-Citrus
-Dry beans
-Moldy or rotten food- if it’s not good for you, it’s not good for your animals.
