Everyone knows that “cozy” is real estate code for “small”. But, a small space is not necessarily a bad thing; and it’s not impossible to sell. There are plenty of ways to open a space up, and make it feel more inviting and, yes, actually cozy. Check out this post by Bao at Releve Design for tips on how to make a small area seem comfortable instead of cramped. They can work for any current homeowner who is feeling pent up, or for realtors trying to stage a smaller home for sale:
-Cook- the smells will seep into the walls, imparting warmth.
-Don’t supersize, reenergize- rearrange furniture and swap out décor
-Use negative space- remove items and reduce clutter
-Light it up- bring in the lamps. Brighter = bigger
-Reflect- use mirrors to make it appear bigger
-Unhinge- remove unnecessary doors to open it up
