13902299113_3988edf531_zI live in an apartment, so growing my own huge garden is not really an option. I do, however, have a rather large patio area that I can use. However, it’s always in the shade and never receives direct sunlight. This is good for me, since I’m not blinded every morning and evening, but bad if I want to grow lots of different veggies and flowers. That’s why I’ve started looking into plants that actually prefer shade and indirect sunlight! If you are looking to start a shade garden of your own, check out this article by Balcony Garden Web for a list of edible plants that thrive in the dark:

-Bok Choy

-Fenugreek

-Herbs like mint and ginger

-Roots like onions and beets

-Dark, leafy greens like spinach and kale
