Realtors have to be incredibly good with people: you have to be a quick communicator, a master diplomat, and a pro negotiator. Plus, you have to know how to buy and sell homes! But, it all comes down to knowing how to talk to people. It’s important to be professional, knowledgeable, and to be able to voice you and your clients’ concerns without coming off as unpleasant or accusatory. That’s why I love this post by Lee Nelson at the Realtor Mag blog. Here’s what NOT to say to clients, and what you should say instead:
-Do NOT say: “Your house is filthy, cluttered, and has a bad smell. It will never sell like this.”
-DO say: “Homes that are staged properly sell faster. Here, I have the number of a professional who can take care of all that pesky deep cleaning for you.”
-Do NOT say: “Wow, that house was too old and small. Scratch that one off the list.”
-DO say: “What are your initial thoughts on the home?”
