Once you’ve sold your home, bought a new one, moved across the country, and unpacked, it’s time for life to begin again. You might have a new job already (this is one of the main reasons why people move in the first place), but there’s more to life than working! Check out this post by Megan Duesterhaus at the For Rent blog for tips on making new friends and transitioning into a new community. It’s especially helpful for military families or anyone else who finds themselves moving a lot:
-Research early- learn where nearby restaurants, grocery stores, schools, and attractions are before you get there.
-Check out the official government/tourist websites for your new city
-Watch the local news
-Get out and explore, talk with the locals! Take the time to introduce yourself to neighbors, coworkers, classmates, etc.
-Get connected- check out Facebook for local events, get-togethers, farmers markets, concerts, and festivals.
