Everything to do with your shak.
Working from your home and being your own boss is awesome. Whether you’re a blogger, a writer, a freelancer, or a small business entrepreneur, you make the bulk of your income from your own computer. When setting up your work space, it can be tempting to splurge and waste lots of money on items you don’t actually need.
Yes, sometimes you need to spend money to make money, but that should only extend to buying the raw materials for your product, and your own marketing. For a list of the top money wasters for work-from-homers, read this post by Anne at Thinking Outside the Sand Box:
-Unneeded advertising, or advertising without a plan- if you are making good sales, and your marketing strategies are working, don’t feel the need to put out an ad! If you do put out ads, go into it with a solid plan and budget
-Extraneous office supplies- only buy what you REALLY need.
-All new stuff- don’t rush out and buy a new computer, new desk, new office chair, new phone, etc.
-Software- simple, cheap, and even free programs are out there if you know where to look.

Data entry is a common work from home idea that I hear often. It’s appealing because it involves little to no phone calling, and no dealing with customers. However, it can be hard to find a legitimate job. According to this article by Real Ways To Earn, there are more scams out there for data entry jobs than actual jobs. Of course, the golden rule of finding ANY work from home job is: if they ask you to send THEM money, it’s a scam. That’s not how jobs work. That being said, here is their list of (legit!) companies that often hire data entry specialists:

As work-from-homers, we all depend on our smartphones. I use mine for to-do lists, writing up posts on the go, emailing, and scheduling. Some people use them for taking photos, taking notes, managing clients, and promoting their brands on social media. Therefore, it”s extremely important for our phones to run fast, and to have plenty of available space on them to store everything we need. Tired of trying to take a photo, then getting that “not enough space” error? Then read this post by Lindsay at The Crazy Organized Blog for tips on how to free up some memory:
-Delete unwanted photos, move wanted photos to a PC, email account, Facebook, or flash drive. Photos take up a LOT of space
-Remove old podcasts- delete them as soon as you listen to them
-Delete old text messages
-Clear your browser history in Safari
-Delete games you never play

Okay, so this technically isn’t working from HOME, but come on. Mystery shoppers have awesome jobs, and control their own hours and how much work they pick up. You get paid to shop at stores you love, go to movies, eat at restaurants, get your hair cut, nails done, oil changed- there are so many different businesses out there looking for mystery reviewers. If you’re unfamiliar with the purpose, you go in secret to a business and make note of everything you see. What was your cashier’s name? Did they greet you with a smile? Was their appearance professional? Was the establishment clean? What was the quality of the food? Businesses then use your information to make improvements to their services. And becoming one is super easy! Check out this post by Lauren at I Am That Lady for how:
-Start with a company with a solid reputation: MSPA-NA is a great place to start gathering information. Another great resource is Bestmark.com.
-Have reasonable expectations- each job will pay between $25-$100, and will reimburse you for money spent at the shop. However, jobs are not always available. Secret shopping is a great way to make extra cash on the weekend.
-Make sure you are a detail oriented person, and can remember a lot without taking notes.
