I Was Tagged!

by KellyBax Baxter 6 Comments

Tagyourit I am coming over to Shak In Style today because I was tagged here. Are you familiar with Blog Tag? I was not until I found out it was my turn!

I wrote a post here Featured Squidoo Lens: Organizing A Room and was tagged by a commenter. Here is what he said:

"I am tagging you so readers are coming to see Seven Weird or Random facts about the author of this blog! We can’t spend all of our time on StumbleUpon right? You can see the post on my blog Virginia Breeze and have a great day."

Here are the rules of this blog tag game:

Post these rules on your blog.
List seven random and/or weird facts about yourself.
Tag seven random [?] people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
Let each person know that they have been tagged by posting on comment on their blog.

1) My favorite candy is a Snickers bar. It MUST be eaten the same way every time. First I eat the chocolate off of the sides of the candy bar. Then I eat the chocolate from the bottom of the candy bar and also from the top. This leaves the nougat and the peanuts. The nougat is eaten first and the peanuts last. I have done this since I was a child. The person who tagged me loves Snickers Ice Cream Bars apparently. By the way, these must be eaten in the same manner!

2) When I was a child, I believed that Dracula lived in a picture that hung in my basement. The picture was not scary, it was of a house at the end of a road. I don’t know why I believed that Dracula lived in the picture, but no one could convince me otherwise!

3) My family used to go camping to a place called Buggs Island. We went there year after year and loved it. There is a little graveyard there inside the campground. The first time I saw the grave of Little May Land, I was convinced that I was her reincarnated. (I used to read a lot of horror books back then!) To be honest, I still think that!

4) I am a Day’s Of Our Lives junkie! I have watched the show since I was a kid. I tape it every day and watch it every evening.

5) I love Nascar! I acquired the love for it two years ago. Prior to that, I couldn’t understand how anyone could watch cars going around in a circle. I happened to win a bet which paid me $90 and I was hooked after that. Congratulations to my drive Jimmie Johnson! Go #48!!!!!

6) My son and my husband have a joke about me. They claim that if I stay up past midnight, I will explode. I admit that I am not a night owl. I used to be but having children has made me tired! At the end of the day, I am ready for bed. BUT, give me a party and I am one of the last people standing!

7) I am happy to say that I am typing this without the aide of glasses or contacts. I had laser eye surgery back in April and it was a huge success!!!!

I had to tag seven other blogs in this game. Here I go!

Kerith at The Flugpo Blog

Peter Morrow at Peter Morrow’s Online Money

Jack Payne at Six Hours Past Thursday

Kristina at Mama Divas

Jon at  Freelance Folder

Scott at  Father Speak

Shakadoo’s very own Kathylynn at Love Shak, Baby

That completes my game of blog tag! It was really fun!

Organizing A Room by Clutterbugs

Everything You Need to Know About Organizing a Room!

So organizing a room or maybe multiple rooms in your house has been on your "to do" list for awhile now.

You know it has to be done, but it’s too much…too boring…too hard…too complicated…

And where do I start? How do I start? What should I do?

The Organizing a Room lens is a guide to lead you out of your world of clutter and bring you into a world of organized bliss.  This lens is designed to motivate you to start organizing a room, explain how to go about organizing a room, and provide you resources to assist you with organizing a room…any room on your list!

Happy Organizing!

Gimme Three Steps

Ok, You Asked for It! Three Steps to Kick-Start Organizing Goals…

If you are organizing a room, it is best to set guidelines for the project. These guidelines will not only help you define what you want but also help determine project timeline and framework.

(1) Set an attainable goal.
Don’t say: I will attempt to organize the entire kitchen in one day.
Do say: I will spend 1 hour each day for the next three days organizing the kitchen cabinets.

You know your limitations better than anyone, and this is not the area in which to bite off more than you can chew.

(2) Set a time limit for your project.
Don’t say: I will get to this when I get a chance.
Do say: I will have a completely organized closet by the end of March.

It is more likely that you will prioritize with a looming deadline. If it helps, have a friend or a spouse hold you to your goal.

(3) Break larger projects into smaller projects.
Don’t say: I will organize my house completely over the next two weeks.
Do say: I want to organize my entire house, but I will start with the garage. I will have two weeks to finish it, and then I will move to the bathroom, kitchen, etc.

I believe Confucius said it best – "When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don’t adjust the goals, adjust the action steps."

There are many more excellent tips for organization in this Squidoo lens. To learn everything you ever wanted to know about how to organize your rooms, visit the entire lens by clicking: Organizing A Room

Great Find: Wide Bookseller Table

by Sarah C. Leave a Comment

WidebooksellerCasaSugar found a great deal on this Bookseller table over at JC Penney. It’s $99 and comes ready-to-assemble. So keep in mind you’ll need some tool skills.

JC Penney’s has really changed lately. So give their furniture section a chance. They’re no DWR, but they’ve got plenty of steals on attractive, serviceable pieces.

Afternoon Delight

by Sarah C. Leave a Comment

I didn’t have time to peruse the Web much yesterday. Busy day at the office. But when I looked around this morning, I found a treasure trove of awesome stuff that I have to share:

Storyline_3

The Storyline shelf. I love the way it looks hung vertically.

Black, white and lavender
look sublime together. I really like the pop of the cow-hide chair.

I can’t get enough of white lacquer side tables, like the Art night stand.

It looks like just another geometric wallpaper pattern. But look more closely and you realize it’s dice.

City region prints.

Steampunk jewelry.

Brave Decorating in D Home

by Sarah C. Leave a Comment

Stoneman15This room, located in a home in one of Dallas’ premier neighborhoods, stirred up a little controversy when it was featured in D Home.

Apparently, some have objected to the bold use of animal skins and skulls.

I can see that it’s not for everyone, but I think this room is amazing.

Holiday Lights Canvas

by Sarah C. Leave a Comment

Bp103417_1107_litebrite_xlBlueprint’s new issue is full of easy, modern holiday decor. And some of it is on view in an online Glow and Behold slide-show.

I really like this fireworks-inspired piece. It’s made of a stretched canvas and a string of mini holiday lights. They simply pierced the canvas with an awl to create the design, then pushed the bulbs through.
