I believe it’s super important to educate your kids while they’re at home, in addition to their time in school. This is especially important during the summer, when they seem to forget everything they learned during the school year! Now, does this mean you need to sit down with them and assign them essays and homework? Heck, no! Summer is for playing and being a kid.
That’s why you mix playtime with learning! Do some crazy science experiments, cook together, go on nature walks, head to the library or the museum, play some instruments, and read books together. Reading books is one of the best ways to learn. It expands vocabulary, and teaches just about anything under the sun. That’s why I love this list by Jennifer at the Jenny Evolution of fun electricity books for kids. Head on down to your library, pick up a copy of one of these, and get to learning!:
Oscar and the Bird: A Book about Electricity (Start with Science)
Electrical Wizard: How Nikola Tesla Lit Up the World
The Magic School Bus And The Electric Field Trip
Electronics for Kids: Play with Simple Circuits and Experiment with Electricity!
