My dad, the gardening guru has always said most perennials don’t come into their best growth until they’re about three years old. I never really thought about that until I looked at my rose bush tonight.
It has tons of blooms on it, more than it ever has and it had to deal with that random late freeze we had in April, too. This, coincidentally, is the third year my roses have been planted. They’re gorgeous! And the smell, oh, it’s heaven.
So if you’re worried about how well your plant will do and it has not yet been planted three years, just wait. You may be shocked at how it looks after 3 years.
