Ah, Springtime. I’m so glad you are here. I hate being indoors, freezing my butt off all winter. My dogs hate it too- they’re ready to get outside and play! But, with the joy of Spring comes a problem that all owners of long-haired dogs know too well: the matting. Unless you enter your dog into shows, or paid like thousands of dollars for it, chances are that you do not spend much time on grooming. I mean, who has time to brush their dog’s entire coat every day? Not me. Usually, when it starts getting hot, we take her to get groomed (all her hair chopped off), so we avoid it. Because once the hair is matted, good luck getting it nice again. But apparently, it is possible! Check out this post at Cowboy Magic for how to detangle the clumps:
-Assemble your tools- you’ll need a dematting tool, a mat splitting tool and a slicker brush.
-Find the mats and tangles using the slicker brush. They often form under the belly and on the back of legs.
-Apply detangler and work it out with your fingers first before using the mat splitting tools
-Brush your dog and bathe her!
