My nephew is almost two years old, and just learning to talk. And he loves it! He chats and chats all day long- always pointing at things around the house and naming them, and constantly talking about whatever comes into his mind. His mom is also very extroverted- and I have no doubt that he’ll end up the same way. However, for older kids that are a little shyer, or for when “how was your day?” gets old and stale, you may need to start the conversation for them. That’s why I love this post by Lara Neves at Overstuffed Life! It has a list of conversation starters to use with any kid. They’re great for dinner conversation, long car trips, or getting to know groups of students or scout troops. Check out some of my favorites:
What book are you reading? Tell me about it.
If you had $1,000, what would you do with it?
Tell me your favorite joke
What is your favorite song right now?
What is your favorite season, and what do you like most about it?
