Some of my best memories as a kid come from the holidays: singing with my cousins, waiting for Santa at night but always falling asleep, playing in the snow, eating Christmas cookies, driving to my Grandma’s house with my family, the list goes on. Christmas is the perfect time to create some long lasting, happy childhood memories. Here are some of my ideas that you can do with your kids to help get them into the holiday spirit:
-Go visit Santa at the mall, get pictures taken
-Drive around and look at lights
-Shop for/make gifts together for friends and neighbors
-Bake cookies, leave some out for Santa
-Sing Christmas songs; go caroling
-Play in the snow: have a snowball fight, make snowmen and snow angels
-Volunteer, donate, and get into the spirit of giving
-Make a gingerbread house
-Make ornaments (there are tons of cute ideas on Pinterest!)
-Decorate a Christmas tree
-See a live nativity scene or play
-Learn about holidays from other cultures and religions
-Watch Christmas movies
-Mail cards together
-Elf on the Shelf (if that’s your thing)
-See the Nutcracker ballet performed
-Start and keep track of an advent calendar
-Make paper snowflakes
-Drink hot chocolate
-Go to your town’s local holiday parade
-Spend time with friends and family
