Door Makeover Ideas

by Kathy T.

One of the cheapest, easiest ways to update a home is by giving your doors a makeover. This can be as simple and inexpensive as simply slapping on a coat of paint and changing out the fixtures. Easy, but it makes a huge impact and can make your house look years younger. For more inspiration on door upgrades, check out this post by Cass at Remodelaholic for more than 40 ideas. My favorites are:

-Craftsman style door and trim using panels

-Evenly spaced 4 panel door

-Add burlap or fabric for texture

-Try painting a door black, or a bold, bright color.

Industrial Decor Idea: Pipe Pictures

by Kathy T.

Lately, I’ve been really into more minimalist designs in homes. I love neutral colors, and interesting textures like fur, wood, and metal mixed together. One idea I’ve liked recently that fits into that theme is this industrial style photo display by Heidi at Hometalk. She took an iron pipe, bolted it to the wall, and hung photo frames from it:

This is a simple project that can be completed in less than a day and materials cost us less than $50! These are the materials we needed to hang the frames from. A six foot length of iron, 2 elbows, 2 flanges, screws and anchors. To attach the picture frames to the iron pipe, we picked up some hose clamps, cup hooks and decorative chain.
