Cute Kids Are Not Just in Hollywood

While a lot of movie and television stars are just gorgeous and their kids turn our pretty cute too, not all cute kids are in Hollywood. In fact, I would bet there are loads of beautiful kids in your own family or your friends have had that – if in a contest – could give movie star kids a run for their money!

Baby Names are HARD

The understatement of the year could be that picking a baby’s name is tough! My oldest is 21 years old and I’m still trying to come up with a name for her. She gets mad when I make suggestions: Elizabeth! Hailey! Maggie!

Yet with all the superb baby names around, I’m still kinda digging Ivy Blue – the name Jay-Z and Beyonce gave their newborn girl. Others don’t like it so much. From PopFi,

So why Blue Ivy? I’m not sure, but I’ve heard the Ivy part is related to the way both parents love the number IV (or four for normal folks). As for the blue, I guess they like the color? There’s no telling why people do things like that, but as bad celebrity baby names go, it’s a far sight better than Apple and Pilot Inspektor.

Ivy is the name of one of my favorite people.

Domestic Violence on Teen Mom

I suppose this must be “let’s talk about celebrities” week with the Conan O’Brien post yesterday. Today I have to comment on a news article I read about the MTV show Teen Mom. I started watching it when it was 16 and Pregnant and was fascinated by the decisions these young women made.

I greatly admire Catelynn and Tyler for how mature they were when they made the decision together to give up baby Carly for adoption. They stood united in their decision to try to give the infant a better life than they had while everyone in their families pressured them to keep the baby.

Like Catelynn, Maci has shown extraordinary maturity as she has blossomed as a young mother. Her priority is her son Bentley.

I don’t even want to judge because I can’t imagine the enormous stress these young mothers must be carrying, yet after seeing Amber hit her boyfriend and now reading about Farrah fighting with her own mother (who was subsequently arrested for suspicion of domestic abuse) I am deeply bothered by the example they are to young people who watch the shows.

I posted earlier about the Signs that Your Teen is in a Bad Relationship. It’s sad when the mother is allegedly the person with whom violence occurs. It concerns me that there’s the potential for the violence to pass down to the next generation. This Child Abuse site offers links and information about how to recognize child abuse and how to prevent it.

As I continue to watch Teen mom (and I will), I recognize that it gives viewers the opportunity to talk to our own children about premarital sex, the consequences of getting pregnant, the impact an infant has on the path of life you thought you were following, and now… domestic violence. I am sorry these young mothers have to experience the hardships that lay before them, but I will take the opportunity to talk to my own 14-year-old.

Please Get Help Britney!

I am so serious when I say "please Britney get help"! It is such a shame to watch her life unfold this way. Here is the story according to AOL News today….

"LOS ANGELES (Jan. 31) – Britney Spears was taken from her home by
ambulance early Thursday and escorted to the hospital by more than a
dozen police officers in cars, on motorcycles and in helicopters.

A Los Angeles police officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity
because he was not authorized to speak on the matter, said the
26-year-old pop star was being taken to the hospital to "get help." The
Los Angeles Times cited unidentified authorities who said Spears was
being placed on a "mental evaluation hold."

"She went willingly.
It was like something in her heart was telling her she should go. She
knew something was wrong," told Britney confidant Sam Lutfi to PEOPLE." read more..

I remember back to the JT and Britney days and how happy she looked. It must be hard to be so successful at such a young age. So many child stars have grown up with such problems.

I truly hope that she comes out of this healthy and happy again.

Mathew McConaughey Is Going To Be A Father

I am devestated by the reports that Mathew McConaughey is having a baby with his girlfriend Camilla Alves. I read this at Inside Fatherhood.…

Matthew McConaughey announced on his website that he and girlfriend Camilla Alves are expecting a child together. The child will most likely surf and play bongos.

“My girlfriend Camila and I made a baby together. …
It’s 3 months growin’ in her womb and all looks healthy and lively so
far. We are stoked and wowed by this miracle of creation and gift from
God …”

Honestly, I could care less that he is about to become a father, but I
had dreams that it would be with Kate Hudson. I just love those two
together. They just look like the perfect couple. I know…who am I to
say. I just happen to LOVE the movie "How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days".
That is one of my all time favorites.

J Lo Pregnant?

I don’t know about you, but if people were constantly asking if I was pregnant when I wasn’t I would have a terrible complex. If they are asking it can only be because my stomach was sticking out and showed through my clothes. They may as well just come right out and say you are looking a little chubby these days.

I’m guessing J Lo is feeling a case of the chubs right now by what I read today at Pregnancy Weekly’s Blog called Jennifer Lopez In Maternity Wear…..

"Could J Lo be pregnant? I mean her outfits definitely look like
maternity wear. But why is she saying that she is definitely not
pregnant when her wardrobe is telling us something else?"

She claims that she’s not over and over again. If I were her, I would start wearing some tight shirts to show the skinny belly that we all that she has. I will say that I guess I could put up with the questions if I were making the same paycheck as J Lo.

More Britney Drama.

It is bad enough when a mother loses
custody of her children but how bad is it to have your children taken away and given to Kevin Federline? Am I
wrong or did he not leave a child and a pregnant wife for Britney? Wow,
this world we live in….I’ll be honest with you I am disgusted by this
whole turn of events.

So many infertile couples want children so badly and people that
have no problem getting pregnant, do not take care of the babies they
have. Go figure.

Tori Spelling Becomes A Mother

I have so many fond memories of when I brought my first child home. I also have some really bad ones that made me regret motherhood.(back then, not now) You attend all of the birthing classes to help through delivery but nothing prepares you for the first six weeks with your new baby. My niece just had a baby three weeks ago and I am watching her go through trials of being a mom for the first time. I think that every new mom tries to act so happy but inside is thinking what have I done. I was reading a great blog post at Strollerderby today called, Tori Spelling On Nursing Difficulties And That Pesky Weight and wanted to share it with you…….

On breastfeeding:

"It’s been a little difficult… I didn’t know this before,
but sometimes you don’t produce… So I supplement with a bottle to get and he found out that the bottle
is easier to consume, it’s faster and comes right to you. He doesn’t
have to do all the work. So, he started to [nurse] angry. He’d be pounding on the boob (with his fists)… And then he
got to the point where he realized, ‘Well, no matter what I do she’s
going to stick me on that thing,’ – which, it is literally larger than
his head – so now he’s kind of learned to pacify me and kinda just sit
there and suck on it until he can get
to his bottle."

Tori also relayed her experience with one of the most horrifyingly
depressing things that can happen to any postpartum woman: she was
mistaken for a pregnant woman.

I was in the market last week and some woman approached me, she said, ‘The baby!,’ and I was like,
‘Oh yeah,’ thinking he had been on the cover of Us Magazine, and she
walked up and said, ‘Can I touch him?’ and grabbed my belly. And then
it got worse. I was like, "Oh no no, he was born 5 weeks ago!’ and she
goes, ‘OH! You still have the belly.’ I said, ‘Yeah, I’m feeling good.’
And she’s like, ‘Don’t worry, it will go away – well I mean mine hasn’t
yet and my kid’s 18, but…(shrugs shoulders)."

See ladies, even the celebrities go through some difficult times. My
advice to every first time mom is to make sure you know that you are
not alone in the feelings that go with bringing home a newborn. All of
a sudden your life is not your own, you are sleep deprived, hormones
are out of control and this precious being is consuming every single
minute of the day and night. Luckily everything calms down and you will
be able to look back and remember how wonderful it was to become a mom.
