When Weather Defines a House
The only way weather defines my big ol’ poorly insulated house is when the winter is so cold that my electric bill jumps. It gets so expensive that I can’t afford to replace my gutters because all my money went to the power company. However, I believe I’d take that kind of weather over a wind so strong and bitter that a tree grows like this in Denmark.
Now that’s some serious weather!
If you want to live somewhere where perhaps the climate isn’t as harsh (but no promised here!), check out the design by D*Haus where the house moves around depending on wind direction and other elements.
The London-based company has come up with a eco-friendly house that sits on rails, allowing it to change its form into different configurations, pivoting open and closed, based on the weather. According to Daniel Woolfson of D*Haus, “The dissection of the square into four distinct shapes allows it to be rearranged to form the [equilateral] triangle. This concept alone is fascinating, but the possibilities are endless when applying this formula to the world of architecture and design.”
Amazing.

Friday Fun Video: Million Dollar View
This man is a genius. He built a house with a million dollar view by hand – for $35,000. The concrete work he has done is incredibly realistic and the recycled materials are gorgeous. Bravo, sir!

Ready to Paint My House
I desperately need to paint y house, but mostly I just want to put up vinyl soffets so I never have to paint again. However, if it was just up to me to paint and I didn’t have my husband to stop me, I’d probably be all over doing something creative with my house like these,
Warning, Wet Paint(ed Patterns): These artistic painted patterns may perplex and overwhelm as much as they inspire you. One artist (who resides in a former public restroom building) decided to paint the outside of his home in standard-patterned plaid. Another home owner went with black and white spots as a tribute to a movie about, well, you can guess. As a surprise, one couple returned home from a honeymoon to find their townhouse exterior turned into a gaudy leopard print – this paint job was not chosen but, instead, courtesy of their friends.
I think I’d prefer the rainbow house (see it by clicking through).
