We survived Girl Scout camp this past weekend. We being me since the teens I have in my troop are all about eye-rolling and whatever’ing everything. *my own eyeroll*
We tried cooking our veggies in aluminum foil on top of the coals and they turned out to be one of my favorite camping dishes ever. I think next time I may have to try an entire potato to bake. The girls made "fairy dust" wishes, though one Mom was quick to point out every two minutes that it wasn’t like we were PRAYING or anything – it was more like throwing a coin into a fountain. I really didn’t think throwing dry non-dairy creamer in a fire at camp could be misconstrued as a graven image, but the whole "fairy dust" thing may have been too much for her.
My favorite part was definitely the high ropes course the girls did on Saturday. Here’s my own Erin giving her Mama a heart attack jumping off a 40 foot platform at the end. I was too chicken to try it myself.
We have another opportunity to go camping in November, but I don’t know if I can entertain them for two nights. I’m definitely open to ideas on how to keep a eight girls – ages 12 – 14 – busy for a couple of nights. I know their parents will appreciate the break. But when do I get one?
